A Personalized Learning Journey by AIHR is an AI-powered feature that asks learners for their specific learning goal and professional background, then builds a tailored course plan to help them reach it. It’s built and tracked online, through the My Learning Journey page on AIHR’s learning platform.
It was developed to solve a common problem: HR professionals with a specific goal shouldn’t have to navigate a large content library manually, or commit to a 40-hour AIHR Certificate Program that isn’t the best fit. A Personalized Learning Journey gets AIHR’s members from their goal to a practical plan in minutes, with clarity on what to learn next.
How do Personalized Learning Journeys work?
Learners state their learning goal and professional background via a short questionnaire that offers a range of options for each area. Goals include closing a skills gap, unlocking a major career leap, and stepping into a different HR domain. Learners also provide their professional context: company size, HR domain, job title, and years of experience.
The plan is powered by an AI recommendation engine and reflects the learner’s goal and the professional context. Learners can track their progress on each journey, including the progress percentage and hours remaining, and run up to three journeys at the same time.
What does a journey include?
Each journey has three to six content items, drawn from AIHR’s catalog of 85+ Courses and Mini Courses. The recommendations are HR-curated and span HR domains, with different levels of learning breadth and depth. The result is a realistic plan that fits around day-to-day work rather than a fixed curriculum.
Who should use Personalized Learning Journeys?
A Personalized Learning Journey is a good fit for:
- HR professionals with a specific learning goal: This includes those who don’t want to search the full AIHR catalog manually, and those who want highly relevant HR content but don’t know exactly what to learn.
- Learners who want a focused plan: They get a clear path without committing to a full Certificate Program.
- Members who don’t know what to learn: This applies when they’re just starting out or exploring what’s next on the platform.
- Members who aren’t sure their current learning is the right fit: A journey helps them check that what they’re learning is exactly what they need to grow or meet their goal.
- HR professionals who want to reach a level of HR mastery: They can do so without spending the time on a full Certificate Program.
- HR practitioners whose role, HR domain, company size, or experience level shapes what they need to learn next: The plan reflects each of these.
- Learners balancing development with a full workload: They need a plan that fits around their day-to-day work.
How do Personalized Learning Journeys differ from Certificate Programs, Courses, and Mini Courses?
An AIHR Certificate Program is a fixed, multi-module curriculum (25 to 45 hours) that ends in a capstone project. A Course or Mini Course is a single-subject training on one topic. A Personalized Learning Journey, however, isn’t a type of training on its own. It’s a tailored plan that sequences existing Courses and Mini Courses around the learner’s goal.
